Original Operating Manual 1-2013
23
During pedaling, the motor remains active. The power support is proportional to the strength of
your pedal push. This is known as torque or force system control. If you stop the pedaling or
use the brakes, the engine switches off immediately (EPAC norm). At speeds over 25 km/h the
engine also turns off, because of the legal requirement to limit driver’s support (Pedelec). At
higher speeds you ride the bike on alone, with muscle power.
To turn off the electrical system, you have the following options
Press again the power button on the operating computer
Remove the operating computer from its holder
Switch off the battery (at battery side)
Leave the Hybrid bike alone; if no activity (power, drive, switch etc.) is registered during 10
minutes, the system switches off automatically, to save energy
Explanation of the hybrid functions
The Hybrid bike features are controlled by the on-board operating computer (Intuvia),
mounted on the handlebar. The LCD display shows speed, support mode, track length,
range, battery status information and in case of failures, error codes
The electronic controller, integrated in the drive unit, determines the motor support
power by measuring crank torque (pedal push), pedaling frequency and support mode
The rated power of the engine is 250 Watts, the torque up to 50 Newton meters and the
energy efficiency 85%
The effective range at Hybrid mode riding, results from the capacity of the battery and
the respective electric power consumption, to overcome driving resistances like
gradient, wind, surface, weight etc.
In high efficiency mode riding (ECO) and under optimal conditions, you will achieve a
reach of more than 100 km or 60 miles on a single battery charge. On touring journeys
under varying loads and conditions, the reach could be about 60 km, in mountain areas
of course less
ave. Hybrid bikes meet all European standards (CE EN 15194 etc.) and are compliant
with international battery safety regulations (UN-T, UL, IEC, RoHS / REACH)
Risks
The safe use of the Hybrid bike on roads (public traffic) or on private premises (sports
equipment), requires some technical measures and rules of conduct, which are summarized in
the section below. More details about security and risk reduction measures, you will find in the
chapter ‘Complete equipment (components) of this manual, as well as in related descriptions
of the original component manufacturers i. e. brakes, gear, suspension, lighting.
