2.5 Lighting the fire
To operate the heat system correctly and safely, it is important to ensure that the chimney generates
the required delivery pressure. This must be checked particularly at each initial operation (after the
summer season) and in the transition period (e.g. strong wind, fog, etc.). For this purpose, hold a match
or lighter flame to the opened fire door. If the flame is not drawn into the opening, a natural draught
must be created in the chimney through a strong build-up of heat (e.g. by paper or kindling). If this does
not succeed, the fireplace heater must not be put into operation!
Move the combustion air flap control to the leftmost position "+" (see p.1 / Fig.2)
Open damper flap, if present, completely (see Fig.6).
Place 2 - 3 pieces of firewood (beech, oak, birch) crosswise in the bottom of the firebox (see Fig.7 - (1).
Place the finely split softwood on top (2). Place a lighting aid (3) in the middle and light it. Never use
petrol, spirit or similar substances to light the fire!
When after a few minutes the firewood has burnt well all around (see Fig.8), close the combustion air
flap by approx. 50% (set the control to the middle position - see page 1 / Fig.2) or close the damper
flap, if present, by 50% (handle to the left - see Fig.6).

2.6 Heating
The combustion air flap should not be more than 50% open (control in middle position), otherwise the
fuel fed will burn away too quickly, resulting in excessively high temperatures on the appliance.
The damper flap, if present, should be 50% open, otherwise the fuel fed will burn away quickly.
Open all existing warm air grilles completely.
Add more wood after approx. 45 to 60 minutes.
2.7 Piling up the fire
Please note that the fireplace inserts are not permanent fireplaces. They are temporarily burning
fireplaces, i.e. for longer lasting operation, fuel has to be added repeatedly.
Do not wear wide or easily flammable clothing when adding fuel to the fireplace inserts.
.
The right time to pile up the fire is when the fuel has burnt down almost to the embers. The second top-
up should be added approx. 45 minutes after the first. In most cases, it is not necessary to add any
more wood.
If you still wish to continue operating the unit, the feeding intervals must be extended and the feeding
quantity reduced (by 0.5 - 1 kg).
