1 Put a pan on the cooking zone.
2 Press the on/off button.
A horizontal line (-) appears in the display.
3 Press quick-selector button 12.
12 appears in the display.
4 Press the + button.
A1 appears in the display. If the button is pressed again,
the next setting appears. You can choose from 9 settings
(see table).
As long as there is the letter A in the display – A3, for
example – a high power level is being used for fast
cooking.
If there is only a number – 3, for example – the cook-
through setting has been switched on.
In the table below, you can see the fast-cook times for the
various fast-cook settings. The number after the A indicates
the setting used for cooking through. On fast-cook setting
A6, for example, the food is fast-cooked at a high power level
for the first ten minutes and then cooked through on
setting 6.

fast-cook setting
The automatic bringing to the boil feature is particularly handy
if you regularly cook the same quantities. You can also use
this feature if you are frequently disturbed while cooking. At
the end of the bringing to the boil period, the feature always
switches the hob down to a safe low setting.
You bring food to the boil on a high setting. Then you switch to
a lower setting to allow the food to cook through. The
automatic bringing to the boil feature does this for you. After
bringing food to the boil at full power, the feature automatically
switches the hob down to the cooking-through setting.
You usually use the same setting for certain foods. You always
let potatoes, for example, cook through at setting 5. Using the
automatic bringing to the boil feature, you can now select
setting A5 immediately. The potatoes are brought to the boil,
and after this the feature automatically switches the hob
down to setting 5. So you do not have to stay around to turn
the dish down to a lower setting once it has come to the boil.
The fast-cook setting can be used in combination with the
timer. Take care, however, that you increase the cooking time
by the fast-cook time (see also the ‘timer’ section on
page 10).
attention
A condition for using this setting is that you use a good
quality pan with a heavy base.
When cooking small quantities, the fast-cook setting may be
too fierce. In that case, do not use the fast-cook setting.
