Make sure that any splashes from the descaling agent do not
come into contact with surfaces that are sensitive to acids, such
as marble, limestone and ceramic.
Put a container with a capacity of at least 1.5 litres underneath the 6.
hot water nozzle (see fi g. 2 on page 9).
Press the MENU button 7.
.  e display shows DESCALING.
e descaling liquid runs out of the hot water nozzle.8.
e descaling programme automatically goes through a serie of 9.
rinses and pauses to remove limescale deposits from the inside of
the coff ee machine.
After about 30 minutes the water tank is empty and the top line 10.
of the display alternates between DESCALE COMPLETE and
PRESS MENU KEY.
Press the MENU button 11.
.  e display shows RINSING, FILL
TANK!
e appliance is now ready for a rinsing process with clean water. 12.
Empty the container under the hot water nozzle and put it back
under the hot water nozzle.
Take out the water tank and fi ll it with clean water.13.
Put the water tank back in place.  e display shows: 14. RINSING,
PRESS MENU KEY.
Press the MENU button 15.
. A rinsing process takes place with
clean water and the rinsing water runs out of the hot water nozzle.
After a few minutes the water tank is empty and the display shows 16.
RINSING COMPLETE, PRESS MENU KEY.
Press the MENU button 17.
.  e display shows FILL TANK!
Take out the water tank, fi ll it with clean water and put it back in 18.

e appliance is now ready for use again and is back to the last 19.
coff ee mode selected.
If the descaling cycle is interrupted before completion, the
appliance continues to display the descale message and the
programme must be started again from the beginning.
Failure to descale the appliance regularly invalidates the
guarantee.

e factory setting is TEMPERATURE HIGH. You can change this
as follows:
Press the MENU button 1.
and press the scrolling buttons < or >
until the menu option TEMPERATURE appears. Confi rm the
menu option with the OK button.
e display shows the current setting. If necessary, select another 2.
temperature with the scrolling buttons < or >. When the desired
temperature is displayed, confi rm it with the OK button.
6.2.4 Setting the switch-off time
If the appliance is not used for a while it switches itself off
automatically for safety and energy saving reasons. You can choose
between 3 switch-off times:
AUTO SHUTOFF TIME 1 H
AUTO SHUTOFF TIME 2 H
AUTO SHUTOFF TIME 3 H
You can change this as follows:
Press the MENU button 1.
and press the scrolling buttons < or >
until the menu option AUTO SHUTOFF TIME appears.
Confi rm the menu option with the OK button.
If necessary, select another switch-off time with the scrolling 2.
buttons < or >. When the desired switch-off time is displayed,
confi rm it with the OK button.
6.2.5 Carrying out the descaling programme
e descaling programme enables your appliance to be simply and
eff ectively descaled. When advised to do so by the display PLEASE
DESCALE!, the appliance must be descaled.
Insert the hot water nozzle (fi g. 32).1.
Press the MENU button 2.
and press the scrolling buttons < or >
until the menu option DESCALE appears. Confi rm the menu
option with the OK button.
e display shows 3. DESCALE NO. Press the scrolling button <,
and the display shows DESCALE YES. Confi rm with the OK
button.  e descaling programme starts.
e top line of the display alternates between 4. ADD DESCALER
and PRESS MENU KEY.
Empty the water tank and pour in the contents of the bottle of 5.
descaler supplied with the machine and fi ll with fresh water up to
the MAX level. For subsequent descaling operations, descaling solu-
tion can be purchased from authorised technical service centres.
