Check that the voltage of the domestic network is the same as that indicated on the technical information plate of the appli-
ance. Place the appliance on a stable surface. When using it the rst time, wash the tank and ll it with cool tap water – 0.7
liters (MAX) – and then carefully t it rmly into its seat (Fig. 3).
Check that the tank is properly inserted; otherwise, the machine may not dispense coffee.
Insert the plug into the socket, which must be earthed.

After having lled the tank with cool tap water, turn the switch (Q) on position “I” downwards to start the machine. The light
(R) will turn on to indicate that the machine is on.
If you are starting the machine for the rst time or after a period of time during which it has not been used, it is
recommended that at least one cup of water be allowed to pass through the boiler’s hydraulic circuit.
Place
a container with a capacity of at least half a litre under the coffee spout and Maxi Cappuccino device (Fig. 5). Put
switch (O) on the coffee position (
). Wait that water comes out from the coupling seat of the lter holder. Open the steam
knob (M) and make water come out of the Maxi Cappuccino device.
Stop dispensing by putting the switch (O) back in the middle position. Close the steam knob. Wait for the light (N) to turn on.
At this point the coffee maker is ready to brew coffee.

In the lter holder (A) insert the powder dripper (D), the perforated silicone disc (E) and the Thermocream ® lter (F) in the
order indicated (Fig. 6). Measure out the coffee in the lter and lightly press with the specially provided presser: completely
ll two measures for two cups of coffee, and ll only one for one cup. Insert the lter holder into its seat.
Tighten well by turning it from left to right while making sure you have hooked it properly onto the ange (Fig. 7).

If too much ground coffee is put inside the lter, turning the lter holder may prove difcult and/or you may get leaks
from the lter holder when the coffee is being dispensed.
The lter ring should be preheated for a few minutes to ensure a nice, hot cup of coffee. This will not be necessary for the
cups of coffee that follow.
Position the switch (O) to coffee brewing (
): the coffee will start coming out of the spouts of the lter holder. To stop the
ow move the switch back to the central position. The minimum serving of coffee is 50 ml.

Like professional coffee makers, do not remove the lter ring when the coffee distribution switch is turned on (in
coffee brewing position ).

Wait about ten seconds after the coffee has been dispensed before removing the lter holder. To remove it, turn it
slowly from right to left so as to prevent splashes or spurts of water or coffee.
When warming up, your appliance may release small puffs of steam from the lter holder; this is perfectly normal.
The warning light (N) will go on and off at regular intervals indicating that the boiler’s thermostat is keeping the water at the
right temperature (around 100º C/212°F for brewing coffee and around 150º C/302°F for making steam).
When using the coffee maker for the rst time and thereafter, it is best to begin brewing coffee only when the light (N) is on.
