To prevent water dripping or splashing into the
equipment, do not use near water – for example near a

equipment.

8. Cleaning

the mains supply is to remove the mains plug. e

10. Power-cord protection

where they exit from the equipment.
11. Non-use periods
We recommend that the power cord of the equipment is
unplugged from the power outlet during lighting storms
or if the equipment is not being used for an extended
period of time

If an abnormal smell or smoke is detected from the
equipment, turn the power o immediately and unplug
the equipment from the wall outlet. Contact your dealer
and do not reconnect the equipment.
13. Servicing

and use the Arcam CD17 compact disc player. e CR10 remote control handset supplied with
this equipment is also described. Use the contents list shown on this page to guide you to the
section of interest.

e CD17 has a Delta-Sigma DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) with
24-bit ltering, allowing ne details to be reproduced in startling clarity.
e CR10 remote control supplied with the CD17 is simple to use and can
also control an Arcam amplier.

Placing the unit
<Place the CD17 on a level, rm surface, avoiding
direct sunlight and sources of heat or damp.
<Do not place the CD17 on top of an amplier or
other source of heat.
<Do not place the CD17 in an enclosed space
such as a bookcase or closed cabinet unless there
is good provision for ventilation. e CD17 is
designed to run warm during normal operation.
<Do not place any other component or item on top
of the CD17 as this may obstruct airow around
the unit, causing the CD17 to run hot.
<Make sure the remote-control receiver to the
le of the front panel display is unobstructed,
otherwise this will impair the use of the remote-
control.
<Do not place your record deck on top of this
unit. Record decks are very sensitive to the noise
generated by mains power supplies which will be
heard as a background ‘hum’ if the record deck is
too close.
Power
e CD17 is supplied with a moulded mains plug
already tted to the lead. Check that the plug supplied
ts your supply – should you require a new mains lead,
please contact your Arcam dealer.
If your mains supply voltage or mains plug is dierent,
please contact your Arcam dealer immediately
Push the IEC plug end of the power cable into the socket
on the back of the CD17, making sure that it is pushed
in rmly. Plug the other end of the cable into your
mains socket and, if necessary, switch the socket on.
Interconnect cables
We recommend the use of high-quality screened cables
that are designed for the particular application. Other
cables will have dierent impedance characteristics
that will degrade the performance of your system (for
example, do not use cabling intended for video use to
carry audio signals). All cables should be kept as short
as is practically possible.
It is good practice when connecting your equipment to
make sure that the mains power-supply cabling is kept
as far away as possible from your audio cables. Failure to
do so may result in unwanted noise in the audio signals.

INFO (Information)
Press INFO on the remote control once to display the
remaining time of the currently playing track. Press
again to display the time remaining on the disc. Press a
third time to turn the text display on.
Press INFO again and the display reverts to its original
setting, showing the time elapsed for the current track.
For CDs with text, pressing INFO once while the disc is
loaded but not playing displays the artist’s name.
Pressing INFO a second time displays the total number of
tracks and the total playing time.
RPT (Repeat)
To repeat the entire disc or a pre-programmed selection
of tracks press RPT on the remote control once: ‘REPEAT’
lights on the display.
To repeat a particular track, select that track and then
press RPT twice so that ‘REPEAT 1’ is shown on the
display. If you now select a dierent track, that track is
repeated instead.
To cancel the repeat function press RPT a third time.
PROG (Program)
e function allows up to 24 tracks from an audio disc
can be programmed to play in any order.

Repeat these steps to program the remaining tracks in

the total length of the programmed sequence and the

which has been designed to very high standards of
electromagnetic compatibility.
All CD players generate, and can radiate RF (radio
frequency) energy. In some cases this can cause
interference with FM and AM radio reception. If this is
the case, keep the CD player and its connecting cables as
far from the tuner and its aerials as possible. Connecting
the CD player and the tuner to dierent mains sockets

Insérez la prise IEC du câble d’alimentation dans la
che située à l’arrière de l’amplicateur, en poussant
fermement pour assurer un branchement correct.
Branchez l’autre extrémité du câble dans votre prise de
courant, elle-même allumée si nécessaire.
Câbles de branchement
Il est recommandé d’utiliser des câbles blindés de haute
qualité, conçus pour ce genre d’application. L’utilisation
d’autres câbles, ayant des caractéristiques d’impédance
diérentes, risque d’aecter les performances de votre
système (par exemple, n’utilisez pas de câble destinés à
un usage vidéo pour transmettre des signaux audio). Les
câbles doivent être aussi courts que possible.
Lors de la connexion du matériel, il convient en outre
de vérier que les câbles d’alimentation secteur sont
maintenus aussi loin que possible des câbles audio. Vous
éviterez ainsi les bruits indésirables dans les signaux audio.

Pour installer un CD, appuyez sur LOAD (ou sur OPEN
sur la télécommande). Le plateau à CD s’ouvre – il
accepte les disques 12cm et 8cm. Placez le CD sur le
plateau, face imprimée vers le haut. Appuyez de nouveau
sur LOAD (ou sur PLAY, ou enfoncez délicatement le
plateau de 5mm) pour fermer le plateau. Vous voyez
‘DISC’ apparaître sur l’acheur, avec le nombre total de
pistes et la durée totale du disque.

INFO (Information)
Appuyez une fois sur le bouton INFO de la télécommande
pour acher le temps restant sur le morceau en cours de
reproduction.
Appuyez une seconde fois pour acher le temps restant
sur le CD. Appuyez une troisième fois pour acher le
texte.
Appuyez à nouveau sur INFO et le premier écran
ache le temps écoulé sur le morceau en cours de
reproduction.
Pour les CD qui disposent de texte, appuyez une fois
sur INFO lorsque le CD est chargé mais pas en cours de
reproduction pour acher le nom de l’artiste. Appuyez
une seconde fois sur INFO pour acher le nombre total
de morceaux et la durée totale du CD.
RPT (Répéter)
Pour répéter tout le CD ou un ordre prédéterminé,
appuyez une fois sur le bouton RPT de la
télécommande:«REPEAT» s’ache sur l’écran.
Pour répéter une piste donnée, sélectionnez-la et
appuyez deux fois sur RPT pour faire apparaître
‘REPEAT 1’ sur l’acheur. Si maintenant vous
sélectionnez une autre piste, c’est cette dernière qui
sera répétée.
Pour annuler la fonction de répétition, appuyez une
troisième fois sur RPT.
PROG (Programme)
Cette fonction permet de programmer l’ordre de
reproduction choisi pour 24 morceaux maximum.
Choisissez le morceau en utilisant les boutons
/
et
0
puis appuyez sur le bouton PROG de la télécommande
pour saisir le morceau dans la mémoire. «PROGRAM»
s’ache sur l’écran pour indiquer que vous débutez la
programmation.
Répétez cette procédure pour programmer les autres
pistes de votre sélection. Vous pouvez aussi appuyer
une fois sur PROG et entrer votre sélection de piste en
utilisant le pavé numérique 0–9.
L’acheur indique les numéros des pistes programmées,
la longueur totale de la séquence programmée et le
nombre de pistes programmées (indiqué par un nombre
qui gure au-dessous du mot ‘STEP’).
Chaque fois que vous saisissez une piste, le nombre qui
gure au-dessous du mot ‘STEP’ s’incrémente d’une unité
et clignote jusqu’à ce que vous conrmiez en appuyant
sur PROG. Si vous n’appuyez pas sur PROG dans les cinq
secondes, l’acheur cesse de clignoter et vous devez
sélectionner la piste de nouveau.

Appuyez une seconde fois sur le bouton lorsque vous
arrivez à la n de la section à répéter. Les lettres ‘A-B’
arrêtent de clignoter et restent allumées.
La boucle choisie est reproduite jusqu’à ce que

Télécommande CR10
La télécommande CR10 est conçue pour une utilisation
avec le lecteur CD17 et les amplicateurs Arcam A28
et A38.
La télécommande CR10 doit être placée en face
du panneau avant du lecteur CD17 pour un
fonctionnement approprié. Vériez que vous avez
introduit les deux piles alcalines fournies avant de tenter
d’utiliser la télécommande CR10.

Le lecteur CD17 est un dispositif audio numériques qui a
été conçus pour répondre aux normes les plus strictes en
matière de compatibilité électromagnétique.
Les lecteurs de CD et les DAC génèrent et peuvent émettre
une énergie RF (radiofréquence). Dans certains cas, cela
peut provoquer des interférences avec la réception des
ondes radio FM et AM. Dans ce cas, éloignez autant que
possible le lecteur de CD et ses câbles de connexion du
tuner et de ses câbles d’antenne. Le fait de brancher le
lecteur de CD et le tuner sur des prises secteur diérentes
peut également permettre de réduire les interférences.

fabricant ne peut engager sa responsabilité en cas de défauts découlant d’un accident,

7. Racks und Regale
Benutzen Sie nur Racks und Regale, die für die
Verwendung mit Audiogeräten geeignet sind. Bewegen
Sie die Anlage sehr vorsichtig, wenn sie sich auf einem
fahrbaren Regal bendet, um ein Umfallen zu vermeiden.
8. Reinigung
Ziehen Sie vor dem Reinigen des Geräts den Netzstecker.
Zur Reinigung des Geräts reicht es in den meisten
Fällen aus, es mit einem trockenen, weichen, faserfreien
Tuch abzuwischen. Verwenden Sie keine Verdünner oder
andere chemische Lösungsmittel.
Von der Verwendung von Polituren oder Möbelsprays wird
abgeraten, da diese Substanzen weiße Spuren hinterlassen
können, wenn das Gerät danach mit einem feuchten Tuch
abgewischt wird.
9. Stromversorgung
Verwenden Sie nur eine Stromquelle, die den Hinweisen
im Handbuch oder auf dem Gerät entspricht.
Zum Trennen von das Gerät von der Netzstromversorgung
sollte der Netzschalter an der Rückseite des Geräts verwendet
werden. Das Gerät muss so aufgestellt werden, dass eine
Trennung des Geräts von der Stromversorgung möglich ist.
10. Schutz der Netzkabel
Verlegen Sie die Netzkabel nicht frei im Raum. Achten Sie
darauf, dass sie nicht geknickt oder gedehnt werden und
dass keine Gegenstände darauf zu stehen kommen. Gehen
Sie besonders sorgfältig mit Kabelenden an Steckern und
Gerätebuchsen um.
11. Nichtnutzung
Wir empfehlen, das Netzkabel des Geräts bei Gewitter
bzw., wenn das Gerät über einen längeren Zeitraum
hinweg nicht verwendet wird, von der Stromversorgung
zu trennen.
12. Seltsamer Geruch
Sollten Sie einen ungewöhnlichen Geruch bemerken oder
Rauch am Gerät entdecken, schalten Sie es aus und ziehen
Sie den Netzstecker. Wenden Sie sich dann unverzüglich an
Ihren Arcam-Händler.
13. Wartung
Sie sollten nicht versuchen, das Gerät selbst zu warten.

Störungen (Funkinterferenzen)
Die CD-Spieler CD17 sind digitale Audiogeräte,
die den höchsten Anforderungen hinsichtlich ihrer
elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit entsprechen.
CD-Spieler und DACs erzeugen jedoch Funkfrequenzen
und können diese abstrahlen. Dies kann u.U. Störungen
im UKW- und MW-Empfang verursachen. Platzieren
Sie in einem solchen Fall den CD-Spieler und die
Verbindungskabel so weit wie möglich entfernt vom
Tuner und der Antenne. Sie können etwaige Störungen
auch verringern, indem Sie den CD-Spieler und den
Tuner an verschiedenen Netzsteckdosen anschließen.
Hinweis für Länder der EU: Diese Geräte erfüllen die
Bestimmung 2004/108/EC.

Sie sind berechtigt, das Gerät während der ersten zwei Jahre nach Kaufdatum bei
einem autorisierten Arcam-Fachhändler kostenlos reparieren zu lassen, unter der
Voraussetzung, dass es ursprünglich bei einem Arcam-Händler erworben wurde. Der
Hersteller übernimmt keine Verantwortung für Schäden, die durch Unfall, Missbrauch,
Verschleiß, Vernachlässigung oder unautorisierte Veränderungen bzw. Reparaturen
entstehen. Außerdem wird keinerlei Verantwortung für Schäden oder Verlust des Gerätes
während des Transports zum oder vom Garantienehmer übernommen.
Die Garantie umfasst Folgendes:
Teile- und Arbeitsstundenkosten bis zu zwei Jahre nach dem Kaufdatum. Nach Ablauf

Belangrijke
veiligheidsvoorschriften
Dit product is ontworpen en vervaardigd om aan strenge
kwaliteits- en veiligheidsnormen te voldoen. Bij de
installatie en bediening moet u echter op de volgende
voorzorgsmaatregelen letten:
1. Neem waarschuwingen en aanwijzingen in acht
U dient alle veiligheidsvoorschrien en
gebruiksaanwijzingen te lezen alvorens dit apparaat te
gebruiken. Bewaar deze handleiding ter referentie en
houdt u aan alle waarschuwingen in de handleiding of op
het apparaat.
2. Water en vocht
De aanwezigheid van elektriciteit bij water in de buurt
kan gevaarlijk zijn.
Om te voorkomen dat water in de apparatuur druppelt
of er overheen spoelt, niet dichtbij water gebruiken -
bijvoorbeeld bij een badkuip in de buurt, gootsteen of
zwembad, enz.
3. Vreemde voorwerpen en vloeistoen
Zorg dat er geen voorwerpen via openingen in de
behuizing naar binnen vallen en dat er geen vloeistof in
gemorst wordt. Met vloeistof gevulde voorwerpen zoals
vazen mogen niet op de apparatuur gezet worden.
4. Ventilatie
Geen ventilatie openingen in de apparatuur blokkeren
Plaats de apparatuur niet op een bed, bank, vloerkleed of
ander zacht oppervlak, of in een gesloten boekenkast of
wandkast, aangezien dit de ventilatie kan belemmeren.
5. Hitte
Zet het apparaat niet in de buurt van open vuur of
apparatuur die hitte uitstraalt, zoals radiatoren, kachels of
andere apparaten (inclusief andere versterkers).
6. Klimaat
Het apparaat is ontwikkeld voor gebruik in gematigde
klimaten.
7. Rekken en stellingen
Gebruik alleen rekken en stellingen die aanbevolen zijn
voor gebruik met geluidsapparatuur. Als de apparatuur
op een draagbaar rek staat, dient het heel voorzichtig
verplaatst te worden zodat de combinatie niet omvalt.
8. Reiniging
Ontkoppel de eenheid van het lichtnet voordat reiniging
plaatsvindt.
De kast moet bij normaal gebruik met een droge, zachte
en pluisvrije doek worden afgenomen. Gebruik geen
verfverdunners of andere chemische oplosmiddelen om
de apparatuur te reinigen.
Wij raden het gebruik van meubelwas (vast of in een
spuitbus) af, aangezien deze onuitwisbare witte plekken
kan achterlaten als de eenheid daarna met een vochtige
doek afgenomen wordt.
9. Voedingsbronnen
Sluit het apparaat uitsluitend aan op een voedingsbron die
in de gebruikershandleiding of op het apparaat is vermeld.
De beste methode om de stroomtoevoer aan het apparaat
te verbreken, is door de schakelaar op de achterkant van
het apparaat te gebruiken. Het apparaat moet zodanig
worden geïnstalleerd dat uitschakeling mogelijk is.
10. Netsnoerbescherming
Netsnoeren dienen zo gerouteerd te worden dat er niet
overheen gelopen wordt, en ze niet in de verdrukking
komen door voorwerpen die erop of ertegenaan gezet
worden. Hierbij moet vooral gelet worden op snoeren en
stekkers, en hun uitgangspunt op het apparaat.
11. Wanneer niet in gebruik
Wij adviseren dat tijdens onweer de sterkstroomkabel
van de apparatuur niet op het elektriciteitsnet is
aangesloten en ook niet als de apparatuur voor geruime
tijd niet wordt gebruikt.
12. Abnormale geur
Als het apparaat een abnormale geur of rook afgee,
zet het dan onmiddellijk uit en haal de stekker van de
eenheid uit de wandcontactdoos. Neem onmiddellijk
contact op met uw dealer.
13. Onderhoud
Voer zelf geen onderhoud aan het apparaat uit buiten wat
er in deze handleiding beschreven wordt. U dient overig
onderhoud aan deskundig onderhoudspersoneel over te
laten.
14. Batterijen
Batterijen moeten niet aan buitensporige hitte
(verwarmingssystemen, zonneschijn, enz.) worden
blootgesteld en ook niet worden verbrand.
15. Schade die reparatie vereist
Het apparaat moet in de volgende gevallen door bevoegd
onderhoudspersoneel nagekeken worden:
A. Het netsnoer of de stekker is beschadigd.
B. Er zijn voorwerpen in het apparaat gevallen of er is
vloeistof in gemorst.
C. De apparatuur werd blootgesteld aan regen of
vochtigheid, of
D. Het apparaat lijkt niet normaal te functioneren of
het prestatievermogen is aanzienlijk veranderd.
E. Het apparaat is gevallen of de kast is beschadigd.
Veiligheidsnaleving
Dit product is ontworpen om aan de IEC 60065-standaard
voor internationale elektrische veiligheid te voldoen.
Dit apparaat voldoet aan de vereisten van deel 15 van de
