6.4.2 CONNECTING THE ADAPTER CHARGING
CABLE WITH EYES
Make sure that the charger is not connected
to the power socket and that the adapter
charging cable is not connected to the bat-
tery charger.
Attach the eye of the red plus cable to
the plus connection cable of your vehicle
battery, e.g. the screws of the pole terminal.
Attach the eye of the black minus cable to
the earth connection cable (minus cable)
of your battery. Lay the cable so that it is
free from bends and tensions. It may not be
attached in the vicinity of hot or rotating
parts of the motor. The connection plug may
not get wet.
CAUTION
Caution: If the „ERROR“ control lamp (Position 4
in the overview) lights up, the charging cables are
incorrectly connected, either no battery is recognised
or the incorrect charge voltage has been set for your
battery.
Remedy: Pull out the plug of the charger. Remove
the pole callipers/eyes from the battery poles and
connect them correctly. Check the pole callipers/
eyes for correct and rm seating. Set the appropriate
charge voltage for your battery.
As long as the „ERROR“ control lamp is lit, the charging
process will not be started.
In order to start the charging process, press the
selection switch for charge voltage (Position 1 in the
overview) until the desired charge voltage has been
selected and the „Error“ control lamp is no longer
lit. For 6 V – mode, the control lamp 6 V will be lit
The charging procedure is now shown by the
ashing of the control lamps for charge voltage. When
the battery has been fully charged, the control lamp
will light permanently. The charger then switches to
maintenance mode.
In maintenance mode, the charger monitors the
battery voltage. If the battery voltage drops below a
particular value (depending on the type and state of
the battery) the charger will start a charging proce-
dure with a low current until the voltage has again
reached the intended value for a fully charged battery.
6.5 CHARGING THE BATTERY
Connect the quick-plug charging cable to the battery
charger. Now connect the mains connection cable
(Position 5 in the overview) of the battery charger to
the power socket.
6.5.1 SELECTING THE CHARGING VOLTAGE
6.5.2 CHARGING PROCEDURE
negative cable (-) to the car body (exposed
part), far away from the battery, the carbu-
rettor and fuel lines. Always maintain this
sequence.
6.6 REMOVING THE CHARGER
Clean the pole callipers every time the charging pro-
cedure is completed. Remove all splashed battery acid
from the pole callipers to prevent corrosion. Clean the
device carefully with a dry cloth. Do not use liquids or
chemical cleaning agents. Never submerge the device
in liquid. Never allow liquid to ow over the device.
Properly roll up the cable before storing the device to
prevent damage to the cables and the device. Store
the device in a dry and clean location.
Only for open batteries: Fill the cells with distilled
water up to the level specied by the battery manu-
facturer. Close the battery cells with the stoppers.
First pull the plug out of the socket and
observe the sequence for disconnection.
This prevents sparks from forming. Since
charging generates a detonating gas, this
is particularly important for the sake of
your safety. Disconnect the charger from
the mains power supply. Separate the
quick-plug connection of the charging cable.
Remove the pole callipers from the battery
poles. Allow the battery to cool down.
CAUTION
7. MAINTENANCE AND CARE
7.1 MAINTENANCE
The battery charger is maintenance-free when used in
accordance with the intended purpose.
7.2 CARE
(Position 2 in the overview) and for the 12 V – mode,
the 12 V control lamp will be lit (Position 3 in the
overview).
