Checking the sharpener and product contents
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
If you are not cautious when opening the packaging with a
sharp knife or other pointy objects, you may quickly damage
the sharpener.
For this reason, be very careful when opening it.
1. Take the sharpener out of the packaging and check whether the sharpener
or the individual parts exhibit damages. If this is the case, do not use the
sharpener. Contact the manufacturer at the service address specified on the
warranty card.
2. Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see fig. A).
Basic cleaning
1. Remove the packaging material and all protective foils.
2. Clean the sharpener with a damp cloth (which is not dripping wet as no
liquid may infiltrate the housing) to remove any packaging and production
residue.
3. Then wipe off all damp residue until dry.
The first time you use the article, an odor attributed to produc-
tion may form. Make sure that the room is adequately ventilat-
ed by opening the windows all the way.

Operation
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
Handling the sharpener improperly may result in injury.
Be absolutely sure to observe the notes in the chapter
“Safety notes”. In particular, be sure to use personal pro-
tective equipment.
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the sharpener may result in damage.
Do not pause during the sharpening process. Stopping
the blade may cause a notch to form in it and the blade
will wear in this area – it will change color and soften.
Practice grinding a knife that you no longer use.
Make sure that you only insert clean blades in the sharp-
ener.
Do not use the sharpener for more than 30 seconds in
continuous operation. Otherwise, it may overheat and the
sharpener will automatically deactivate.
Switch the sharpener off in due time. Pull out the power
plug and let it cool off for approx. 20 minutes before oper-
ating it again.
1. Check whether the voltage indicated on the specification plate corresponds
to the voltage in your home.
2. Place the sharpener on a smooth, stable and level base. The rubber feet 7
(suction cups) ensure that it is security positioned.
3. Carefully pull the power cord all the way out of the housing 8.
4. Before connecting the sharpener to the grid, make sure that the On/Off
switch 9 has been switched to O and that there are no objects in the
sharpening slots 1, 2, 6, 10 , 11 or the grinding opening 5.
5. Connect the sharpener to the grid and push the On/Off switch to position I.

The grindstone 3 will start rotating.
6. Before you start grinding, observe the following notes:
The grindstone must be rotating at full speed before you start grinding.
The blade you intend to grind must be moved over the grindstone
against the direction in which the grindstone is rotating.
Move the blade from the start of the handle to the end of the blade in a
single uniform movement in one direction without pausing.
The blade must be pressed against the grindstone with very slight,
constant pressure, in one movement from beginning to end without
pausing. At the same time, the blade must be kept parallel to the base.
Sharpening knives
Knife edges with a special grind, e.g. bread knives, cannot be
sharpened with this sharpener.
1. Run the knife through the sharpening slots 1 and 2 in a single uniform
movement (see fig. B).
2. Repeat the process two to three times in the left and right sharpening slot to
grind both sides of the knife edge.
If the knife is very dull or there are already notches on the knife edge, proceed
as follows:
1. Use the coarse sharpening slots 10 and 11 in the same manner.
2. Then pull the knife through the fine sharpening slots one to two times.
Sharpening scissors
Scissor blades with a special grind, e.g. zig-zag scissors, can-
not be sharpened with this sharpener.
1. Run the scissors swiftly through the sharpening slot 6 in a single uniform
movement (see fig. C).
2. Repeat the process two to three times in each slot.
3. Turn the second blade to the position shown and repeat the grinding
process.
4. You can also sharpen left-handed scissors. To do so, turn the tips of the scis-
sor blades towards you and draw the scissors opposite the direction of the
arrow in the figure.

Sharpening flat-headed screwdrivers
You cannot grind star-headed screwdrivers or similar with this
sharpener.
1. Applying only slight pressure, run the screwdriver into the sharpening
slots 1 from the top so that it is centric with the grindstone (see fig. D).
2. Take the screwdriver out and check the edge condition. If necessary, correct
the edge condition if only one side has been sharpened.
3. Turn the screwdriver over or use the second sharpening slot 2 to grind
the other side.
4. You can use the coarse sharpening slots 10 and 11 in the same manner if
the screwdriver is very dull or already has notches. You can make slight cor-
rections to the edge condition with the two fine sharpening slots.
5. Then slowly and carefully run the screwdriver into the grinding opening for
screwdrivers 5 in a level position to grind the tip straight.
After sharpening
1. Turn the sharpener 9 off with the On/Off switch.
2. Pull the power plug.
3. Push the wind-up button for the power cable 4 – the power cord will be
drawn into the housing 8.
4. With the sharpener in one hand, tap it with your other hand so that any resi-
due falls out of the sharpening slots.
5. Wipe the sharpener and the work surface off with a damp cloth.

partes no presenten daños. Si así fuera, no utilice el producto. Contacte
