As soon as the AL55 00 recognizes a flow of breath, a permanent sound will star t and the O on the display will move from left to
right. If the breath sample is insufficient the AL55 00 shows FLO . T urn off the device and repeat the test. Blow with medium strength
and without interruption. Utilize the pressure of the contra cting lung.
5.2.5. After a sufficient breath sample a bleep will sound twice and the AL55 00 shows the alcohol level in the format #.## ‰.
5.2.6. The display will blink ca. 1 0 times. Then a bleep will sound simultaneously with each blink and the AL55 00 turns off after five
blinks..
5.2.7 . For turning off manually keep the operating knob pressed. The display shows OUT (off). After a few seconds the AL5 500
turns off.
5. alcohol test with the AL C O S C A N AL5 5 00:
5.1 . inserting batteries: Press the nubbly arrow of the battery cover and pull it off. Insert two batteries size AA (M1500,LR6) 1,5
V into the battery mould. Watch for correct polarity. It is apparent from the batter y symbols in the batter y moulds. Push the battery
cover back into place. Do n ot attempt to close the batter y pocket by pressing the lid on from the top. This may damage the supports
of the lid. Slide the lid along the housing.
5.2. conduct of the alcohol test:
5.2.1. Press the operating knob briefly. Note: If you press the knob long the number of performed test so far and the result of the last
test will appear on the display in turns. In this case begin the alcohol test by releasing the operating knob.
5.2.2. A Countdown to 0 will follow. Note: The Countdown takes longer than on “cold start“ like AL55 00 version and runs faster if a
previous test was just done before.
5.2.3. As soon as the 0 appears on the display the AL55 00 is ready for the test. Note: If you do not perform a test the power sa ve
function will turn off the AL55 00 after a short time.
5.2.4. Y ou may submit the breath sample to the AL5500 in three ways:
g
by means of mouth piece
(best accura cy)
g
by means of straw
(good a ccuracy)
g
by blowing your breath upon the
sensor opening (sufficient accura cy)
7 . how to achieve best possible accur ate results:
g
Wait at least 1 5 minutes after the last zip of alcohol until using the alcohol test. Do not eat, drink or smoke during that time.
g
Do not open the housing.
g
Do not store the AL55 00 at a cold or hot or humid or insufficiently vented pla ce.
g
Keep the AL5500 out of rea ch of children.
g
Perform three „run in tests“, after a longer storage time, before performing the
actual alcohol test.
g
Do not drop the AL55 00.
g
Replace batteries upon batter y alarm sign. Low battery capacit y leads to false
test results.
g
Do not conduct any test in noisy (sound wa ves disturb the sensor) draughty or badly vented pla ces.
g
After a test
result of 1,00 per mill or higher the sensor needs a longer rest. In this case wait for a minimum of three minutes until the next test.
8. notes on the battery law (BattG) – exchange of batteries:
The device covered by this operation manual contains two alkali- manganese batteries upon delivery. These batteries are not meant
to be recharged. Attempting to recharge may be harmful to people or go ods. Neither is the application of rechargeable batteries in
the device possible, as it causes damage to the device. Dead batteries shall not be dispo sed of in domestic garbage. Old batteries
may contain harmful substances that may be harmful to health and environment. Please return the batteries/rechargeable ones to
the retailer or your local re cycling collection pla ce. The return is free of c harge and stipulated by la w. Please throw only run down
batteries into the provided containers and cover up the poles of lithium batteries. For battery exchange pull the battery cover off the
device and replace the used batteries against new ones. Watch for the polarity: The negative poles of the batteries have contact to
the springs in the battery mold. Push the battery cover ba ck onto the housing until it clicks. All batteries and rechargeable ones are
recycled. Valuable commodities like iron, zinc, or nickel can thus be recovered. Battery re cycling is the simplest act of environmental
protection in the world. Thank you for participating.
The trash bin means: Batteries and rechargeable ones may
not be disposed of in domestic garbage. The symbols under
the trash bin stand for:
g
Pb: Battery contains lead
g
Cd: Battery contains Cadmium
g
Hg: Battery contains quick silver
9. calibration:
In order to maintain the accura cy of the AL55 00, it is advised to recalibrate after 6 months. The calibration is not mandator y, but the
accura cy of the AL55 00 deteriorates continuously. Send the AL55 00 marked „Alkomat calibration service“ to the company address
stated on the invoice. We suggest to ship as par cel, so a tracking and tr acing is possible in case it gets lost.
