1.1 Algemeen
De belangrijkste functie van een operator is het routeren van externe oproepen en, in
voorkomende gevallen, het naar buiten bellen op verzoek van de gebruikers van de installatie.
Binnen één systeem kunnen de taken worden verdeeld tussen een of meer operators
(maximaal 50). Elk operatortoestel behoort tot een operatorgroep.
De toetsen van 4035-toestellen bieden alle benodigde voorzieningen voor een efficiënt beheer
van inkomende en uitgaande oproepen.
Sommige beheerfuncties kunnen vanaf het operatortoestel worden bediend. Dit zijn onder
andere:
- wijziging van de status van de operators, zoals de overgang van dagstand naar nachtstand
(met betrekking tot het beheer van de installatie leidt dit tot enkele verschillen voor de
routering van de oproepen en de functies die vanaf het toestel beschikbaar zijn),
- reservering van externe lijnen voor exclusief gebruik (met betrekking tot autorisaties),
- bewaking van een goede werking van het systeem,
- programmering van diensten, zoals datum en tijd, verkortkiesnummers en kostentellers.

Het Alcatel 4035-toestel bevat de volgende onderdelen:
1. Hoorn (kan worden vervangen door een headset).
2. Luidspreker onder de hoorn.
3. Tweekleurig indicatielampje (rood of groen).
