When travelling in vehicles, secure your wheelchair and the Esprit wheels according to the currently applicable statutory requirements
and legislation.
When navigating public roads and pavements in the Federal Republic of Germany, the provisions of the German Road Traffic Regulations
and the Road Traffic Licensing Regulation are to be observed at all times. In other countries, the locally applicable national provisions
are to be observed at all times.
The Esprit is only intended for transporting persons with restricted mobility and must not be used for any other purpose, e.g. for trans-
porting goods or as a plaything for children.
The operation of the Esprit is prohibited in the vicinity of strong magnetic fields, such as those induced by holding solenoids, trans-
formers, tomographs, etc.
Powered wheelchairs may be susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI), which is interfering electromagnetic energy (EM) emit-
ted from sources such as radio stations, TV stations, amateur radio (HAM) transmitters, two-way radios, and cellular phones. The inter-
ference (from radio wave sources) can cause the powered wheelchair to release its brakes, move by itself, or move in unintended direc-
tions. It can also permanently damage the powered wheelchair‘s control system. Each powered wheelchair can resist EMI up to certain
intensity.
Avoid using the Esprit in adverse conditions, such as storms, hail and high undergrowth.
Never travel without anti-tippers, and only remove them in order to navigate major obstacles. It is left to the
judgement of the user as to whether to call an attendant for help when there is an increased risk that the wheel-
chair may tip over.
Travelling without a pair of anti-tippers increases the risk of accidents, and thus injuries. Alber GmbH accepts no liab-
ility for accidents caused by operation of the Esprit without a pair of anti-tippers.
The execution of “wheelie” movements (anti-tippers removed from wheelchair, Esprit wheels on the ground, front
wheels (castors) up in the air) is not permitted. Alber GmbH accepts no liability for accidents resulting from such
actions.
After travelling with the Esprit, note the following:
Switch off the Esprit when not in use to prevent inadvertently triggering travel impulses when the joystick is touched and to prevent
the self-discharge of the battery pack.
If possible, recharge the battery pack of your Esprit after each trip.
3.4 Obstacles
As far as possible, always use reverse mode when negotiating obstacles (e.g. kerbs).
Please refer to the wheelchair operating manual for the maximum permitted obstacle height.
Attention! When navigating obstacles in reverse, the Alber anti-tippers cannot be guaranteed to be fully functional. For this reason,
travel slowly and carefully in reverse until the Esprit wheels touch the obstacle. Once you reach this point, negotiate the obstacle care-
fully. It is up to you to decide whether to enlist the help of another person.
