OPERATING THE UNIT
General Information
The player menus are preset to English. However,
another language may be selected (see page 27).
Most functions can be operated by the remote con-
trol. The buttons on the remote control and the front
panel of the player have the same functions.
Preparation
Switch on the unit and connect it to an amplifi er or
stereo system if required.
Turn the TV on and select the player as the signal
source (see the „Connections“ section).
Disc Playback
Playback
1. Switch on the player. The display shows the word
“LOADING”. If there is no disc in the player the mes-
sage „NO DISC” appears after a few seconds.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
3. Insert a disc (permitted diameters: 8 cm and 12
cm). The disc must be inserted with the printed side
facing upwards.
4. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the
disc tray. At the top left of the screen the word „CLO-
SE“ appears followed by „LOAD“.
5. Press PLAY to play the disc. With the SELECT button
you can call up the menu and select special settings.
Some disks begin to play back automatically without
it being necessary for the PLAY button to be pressed.
Stopping Playback
Playback is stopped with the STOP button. The unit now
automatically „remembers“ the current position. When
the PLAY button is pressed again, playback continues
from this point. If the STOP button is pressed twice,
playback is permanently stopped; the player can no
longer continue playback from the position where it was
interrupted. Playback can only be continued on disks for
which the player shows the playing time in its display.
Skip -/+
Using the SKIP- and SKIP+ you can jump to the previous
or following chapter (DVD), track or image (CD).
Fast Forward / Reverse
Press the F.FWD and F.RWD buttons (both on the remote
control) to start fast forward or fast rewind. When the
button is pressed for the fi rst time the fast forward or
rewind is relatively slow. Every time the button is pressed
the speed increases. The following fast forward and fast
rewind speeds are available: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x.
Press the PLAY button to return to normal playback.
Note: This function is not available for all types of disc.
Slow Motion
With the SLOW button it is possible to slow down the
speed of playback. The slow motion function is available
in the speeds 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16. Press the PLAY
button to return to normal playback.
Note: This function is not available for all types of disc.
Pause / Frequency Band
During playback press the PAUSE/BAND button to
change to the individual picture display. Press the PLAY
button to return to normal playback.
Note: In radio mode this button is used to select the
frequency band. For further information see the back of
this instruction manual.
Number Buttons (0-9)
If you would like to play a certain track, simply press the
corresponding number button. For the track numbers
below 10 please press the 0 button fi rst. After putting in
the track number press the SELECT button.
Mute
With the MUTE button you can turn off the sound during
playback. Press the button again to switch the sound
back on.
Displaying the Playing Time
Press the DISPLAY button during normal playback.
DVD: Pressing the DISPLAY button repea-
tedly changes the display between the
playback time that has elapsed, the
remaining playback time, the elapsed
playback of the current chapter and the
remaining playback time of the current
chapter. If the button is pressed a fi fth
time the display disappears again.
CD and HDCD: If the DISPLAY button is pressed repea-
tedly, the display alternates between the
overall playback time, the playback time
of the current track and the remaining
playback time of the current track. If the
button is pressed for a fourth time the
display disappears again.
WMA, MP3: Repeated pressing of the DISPLAY
button calls up certain options (playback
of the entire directory, repeat etc). With
the REPEAT button you can change
between the available repeat options
(random repeat, no repeat, repeat of
the current track, repeat of the entire
directory etc).
Note: During the full-picture display of JPEG images
these functions are not available.
Repeat
Press the REPEAT button during normal playback.
DVD: With the REPEAT button you can
alternate between the individual repeat
modes (ALL, TITLE and CHAPTER). If
the button is pressed a fourth time the
repeat procedure is discontinued and
the corresponding symbol disappears
from the display.
CD and HDCD: With the REPEAT button you can alter-
nate between the repeat modes ALL and
TRACK. If the button is pressed a third
time, the repeat procedure is discon-
tinued and the corresponding symbol
disappears from the display.
