Deletingavideooraudioclipremovestheitemfromthetimeline,buttheitemisnotdeletedfromtheProjectpanel.
To remove an entire audio or subtitle track rather than just a clip, see “Remove audio or subtitle tracks on page 135.
To delete clips, you can also right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) a clip and choose an option from the
context menu.
Move clips in timelines
You can easily change the position of clips in a timeline.
Move a clip in a timeline
Do one of the following:
In the Timeline Viewer, drag the clip to the desired location.
In the Properties panel, select the In-Point timecode and type a new timecode.
Move audio separately from video portion of a clip
1
Select the Selection tool in the Tools panel.
2 Hold down the Alt key (Windows) or Option key (Mac OS) and drag the video portion or the audio portion of
the clip.
Note: This keyboard shortcut now matches the keyboard shortcut for slipping audio or video independently in Adobe
Premiere Pro.
Edit clips in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects
The Edit Original command lets you edit video in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects without leaving your
project. Once you export the video from Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects, your edits are automatically updated
in any timeline containing the video. This command works only for assets that have been created in Adobe Premiere
Pro or After Effects and have a project link embedded within them. (See General export settings in Adobe Premiere
Pro Help or Work with output module settings in After Effects Help.)
1 In the Project panel, select the video file (not the timeline) you want to edit.
2 Choose Edit > Edit Original.
Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects (depending upon which is pointed to in the project link) starts and opens the
video project.
Note: If Edit Original is dimmed, the video may not contain a project link.
3 Make changes as necessary.
4 Export the file to the same name, file format (MPEG-2, AVI, or MOV), and location as the original file,
overwriting it.
