Ausgehend vom Stammordner können Sie die Position einer Datei (S. 92) im Verzeichnisbaum
eindeutig beschreiben, indem Sie nacheinander alle dazwischen liegenden, verschachtelten Ordner
benennen – beispielsweise: \Windows\System32\Vmm32.vxd.
In diesem Beispiel ist der Ordner 'Windows' ein Unterordner des Stammordners, der Ordner
'System32' wiederum ein Unterordner von 'Windows' – und die Datei 'Vmm32.vxd' liegt im Ordner
'System32'.
Stripeset
Jede der verschiedenen, gleich großen Laufwerksspeicher-Abschnitte, aus denen ein Stripeset-
Volume (S. 101) oder RAID-5-Volume (S. 99) aufgebaut ist.
Jedes Stripeset belegt ein anderes Laufwerk.
Ein Stripeset-Volume besteht aus zwei oder mehr Stripesets. Ein RAID-5-Volume besteht aus drei
oder mehr Stripesets.
Stripeset-Volume
Volume, das auf zwei oder mehr dynamischen Laufwerken liegt und dessen Daten gleichmäßig über
gleich große Speicherplatzabschnitte (Stripes genannt) auf diesen Laufwerken verteilt sind.
Der Datenzugriff auf Stripset-Volumes ist üblicherweise schneller als auf andere dynamische Volume-
Typen, weil er simultan auf mehrere Laufwerke durchgeführt werden kann.
Anders als ein gespiegeltes Volume (S. 95) enthält ein Stripeset-Volume keine redundanten
Informationen, es ist also nicht fehlertolerant.
Ein Stripeset-Volume wird auch als RAID-0-Volume bezeichnet.
Systemordner
Ordner, der zur Ausführung eines Betriebssystems notwendige Dateien enthält.
Typische Systemordner von Windows-Betriebssystemen sind „Programme“ und „Windows“.
Systempartition
Volume, das Dateien enthält, die zum Start eines jeden installierten Windows-Betriebssystems
notwendig sind.
Beispiele für solche Dateien sind: Boot.ini, Ntdetect.com und Ntldr
Wenn auf Ihrer Maschine nur ein Windows-Betriebssystem installiert ist, entspricht das System-
Volume üblicherweise dem Boot-Volume (S. 91).
Wenn mehr als ein Windows-Betriebssystem auf Ihrer Maschine installiert ist, hat normalerweise
jedes dieser Betriebssysteme sein eigenes Boot-Volume, während es jedoch nur ein System-Volume
gibt.
In Bezug auf den Volume-Type kann das System-Volume ein primäres Volume auf einem Basis-
Laufwerk sein – oder ein einfaches Volume auf einem dynamischen Laufwerk.
