asymmetrical resulting in the introduction of even and odd harmonics in the signal. The Solid State
distortion applies an aggressive symmetrical clipping to the signal thereby adding high frequency
harmonics and resulting in a harsh sound.
The Pre control is a gain knob acting on the input signal. In its center position the gain is
0dB and the input signal is therefore left unchanged. In its leftmost position, the gain is -6 dB
while in its rightmost position the gain is 72 dB. This parameter allows one to adjust the amount
of distortion introduced in the signal by controlling how rapidly the signal reaches the non-linear
portion of the distortion curve applied on the signal. The Tone knob is used to adjust the color of
the signal after the distortion algorithm has been applied. In its leftmost position, high frequencies
will be attenuated in the signal while in its rightmost position low frequencies will be filtered out
from the signal. In its center position, the signal will be left unchanged. Finally, the Post knob is
a simple gain knob allowing one to adjust the output level of the distortion effect. Its range varies
between -20 and 20 db with a gain of 0 dB (gain of 1) in its center position.
4.9.9 Tremolo
The Tremolo effect introduces a low frequency modulation of the amplitude of the sound. When
the effect is used in stereo mode, the sound also bounces with a 180 degree phase shift from left to
right. The Shape parameter is used to adjust the shape of the waveform which creates the tremolo
effect. In its leftmost position, the wave is triangular while in its rightmost position it is a square
wave. The Depth parameter is used to set the amount of modulation in the amplitude of the signal.
In its leftmost position, the amplitude is not modulated and turning the knob clockwise gradually
increases the amplitude of the modulation. Finally, the Rate knob is used to control the frequency
of the modulation. Turning this knob clockwise increases the frequency and therefore results in a
faster modulation rate. Note that this knob is active only when the Sync function is switched off
